Aesthetica Short Film Festival returns for its third year from the 7 – 10 November, transforming venues across the city into boudoirs for filmmakers and viewers from across the globe. Boasting over 200 short film from more than 20 different countries and master classes and workshops with leading industry figures, ASFF has become an established player within the UK’s festival circuit, placing York on the contemporary culturalists’ map.
The festival weekend will see eight different film genres screened across fifteen venues within the heart of York’s city walls, touring the streets in spectacular fashion. Showcasing the selected shorts, venues include historical sites such as King’s Manor and Barley Hall, to the contemporary treasures of York such as white-cube gallery According to McGee and local filmmakers hub Thirteen Thirty One. With ASFF 2013 looking to be the most ambitious and exciting yet, we’ve found an opportunity for you to experience the festival for the three days in a rather more hands-on perspective.
ASFF are looking for Festival Volunteers who can help in the running of the weekend’s events, stewarding and representing Aesthetica. Tasks can vary from meeting and greeting key speakers, assisting with the setup of screenings and helping guide people to your recommending viewings. With a complimentary festival pass you’ll be able to get a great taste of the viewing pleasures, with the possibility of meeting guest-speakers before the crowds, and each day promises a different venue and venture. Helping at screenings, master classes, and across the city, you’d need to be able to do three six-hour shifts across three day festival.
