Two years ago, Apple announced that its App Store had its 15 billionth app downloaded. By May this year that figure had leapt to 50 billion. Now businesses and developers in York are being encouraged to get a slice of the pie with Venturefest 2014′s new competition: APPtitude.
The competition wants to explore the potential of apps to solve everyday community challenges and issues. The Innovate York team is now seeking organisations to participate in APPtitude by outlining an issue they face that may be solved by an app and where the solution would provide significant benefit to the city.
App developers from across the region will then be asked to respond to the resulting brief and will pitch their idea at York Racecourse as part of Venturefest Yorkshire on 13 March 2014. The winner be paid to develop the app concept and take it to market.
If you are an organisation or an app developer interested in taking part in APPtitude, please register your interest by emailing Joe Beresford at City of York Council at firstname.lastname@example.org.
