It’s safe to say that York is inundated with food. From the gourmet to the street-vendor, no street in the city centre is missing the waft that causes your stomach to rumble, and a lick of the lips. But in a venture to bring the extraordinary into York, and widen the repertoire of your taste buds, York will see a new venture into the world of gastronomy, with the Global Market coming to Parliament Street.
The award-winning Global Market promises to provide real international flavour. Traders from across the globe will be retailing throughout the week, giving locals a chance to feast like a king and travel like a sailor. From the likes of Finland to France, the Global Market will not only widen your food knowledge, but there will also be traders selling decor, clothing and plants, providing your home with worldwide inspiration. Exotic meats including Ostrich, Impala, Crocodile, Wild Boar are available from Meats of the World, whilst Terroir De France will be delighting with dry cured sausages in a wide array of flavours. And cheese lovers will be enticed by The Cheese Board, accompanying the main event with their selection of crackers, jams and chutneys.
The taste of France will be brought to York by Crepes Temptation, and Eastern Europe will be represented by the likes of the Bratwurst Sausage sold at the Traditional German Schwengrill.
A spokesperson for Market Place, organisers of the Global Market, expressed their excitement for this event, “Our traders shall be offering York a fantastic Global Market with great a selection of flavours from all across the globe as well as some unique crafts and gifts for the whole family. It shall definitely be the place to be!”
