Today is a special day. At 13:24 this afternoon we were informed by the judging panel of the 2012 Newspaper Awards that we had made the shortlist for “Digital Innovation of The Year” despite only being around for one third of the qualifying period.
We’re in great company too, alongside the likes of the Financial Times, the Daily Telegraph, and last year’s winners the Guardian.
To even be considered is a huge honour and it’s a timely reminder to us all at One&Other that anything is possible in our industry, whatever the odds might seem. It’s also a lot of fun being the underdog and makes moments like these all that more worthwhile. Passion can, and hopefully will, triumph over size.
Our long list of contributors is now 75-strong and counting. That’s a lot of collective talent and this is for them – shout about it on your CVs and portfolios with pride, and rightly so. There are far too many people to mention by name, a lot of whom can be found on our contributors page. There are also the agencies, such as The Beautiful Meme and Rural Creative, who share our belief that the future of local media is there to be shaped, and have kindly lent their support accordingly.
Last but not least, we couldn’t have made it to six months without our readers. If you can think of anybody you know who would also enjoy oneandother.com, please share away. The encouraging thing from our perspective is that we’re only just getting warmed up and we can’t wait to repay some of that early faith you’ve shown in us with a beautiful new magazine on May 1st.
In the meantime, thank you for your support and let’s raise a glass to being purposely different!
